Jakarta - cyber criminals take advantage of Google's popularity Wave to spread malware to Internet users who are not alert. Mode is used to deceive users who were searching for an invitation to join the Google service is.
Google Wave itself is a new online tool from Google that is used to communicate and collaborate directly (real time).
Symantec Security Response detected a campaign that wants to trap people into the community of Google's Wave by promising not only the applications that can generate Google invitation Wave, but also reap a fortune by selling this invitation to others who want to try Google's Wave.
In fact, the promised application is not useful and is actually a malicious program is detected as malware Backdoor.Tidserv. Topics in the forum where this message appears no connection whatsoever to Google's invitation Wave.
Once scammers out the spell, the next step is to download and victims will install this malware.
According to Symantec, Google's promise of getting an invitation Wave and extra money by selling the invitation was a trap to try and trick users into running the software. Micro-blogging site Twitter is also used to continue the promotion of fake.
In this case, Goggle Wave chosen as bait because of its popularity today. Using a trusted brand like this also increases the chances of success for the attacker.
"This technique is something that cyber criminals use at any time and users should not easily believe - if something seems like the impossible, it is not true," Symantec said in a statement which quoted the official, Thursday (5/11/2009).
